VALVE OIL that cleans..... an origin story....
I have found that as your kids grow you gain adults friends; parents of their friends. My oldest son, despite his musical upbringing, is quite the baseball player (yeah, yeah, from his Mother's side). Each summer we spend weekends traveling and playing baseball and over time I got to know the other Dads quite well, one game our conversation drifted towards careers and when someone mentioned their family business was a local oil company with various blending and refining capacities …. well, I started to ask a lot of questions, and a few weeks later I had several prototypes to use in the classroom.
I had two goals I wanted this product to meet;
I tested in both my middle school and high school classroom all during the Spring of 2019 and I saw some horns go 4-6 weeks between oiling. These were student level horns, well used, and clunkers, not top of the line new pro horns. I’ve also had several old baritones with grimy valves that get better the more I oil them, I can actually wipe off the dirt between oiling and see the oil doing its job.
But this magic elixir needs a name......
During trials this oil earned itself two nicknames:
“Moneky Pee” and “the Good Stuff.”
Being unable to decide I’ve labeled them both ways, you can pick which you prefer. Early indications are that the greater your sense of humor, the more likely you are to pick the “Monkey Pee.”
