Band Bits was created as an outlet for two of my passions: tinkering/fixing stuff and music, more specifically finding better ways to teach large groups of beginning band students.
I’ve been a band director for well over a decade, I’ve worked with tiny rural programs and large competitive marching bands with multiple Rose Bowl and Macy’s Parades to their credit. My career has been anything but boring and has allowed me to teach in California, Texas, Michigan, Colorado, Tennessee, and currently; Indiana.
On the flip side my family tree is littered with tinkerers; both of my Grandfathers were machinists and I have vivid memories as a child of playing with all the metal shavings in their garages full of industrial equipment. I also repair a lot of my own instruments and often have ideas for different ways to do things. A year ago I switched jobs to a larger school and my neighbor teacher had just received a 3D printer for a tech club. I instantly saw a way to create many of my ideas and I’ve been going full steam ever since. At first I made things for my own classroom but eventually word spread and now we’re here. So welcome to Band Bits, I hope you find some of these device useful in your classroom, and trust me, my head is spinning with ideas for new "bits."
Feel free to contact me directly regarding anything:
My YouTube Channel is a good way to keep track of my projects: http://bit.ly/2B602jj (or click the link to the lower left)
Oh, and seriously, if you have an idea for a device or product you would like to have made, please, contact me.
This career is tough, but when we share the load with good ideas it can benefit us all!
Sincerely,
Zach Enos
